So if you could think of a defenseman going back, a guy breathing down his neck behind him, instead of his partner, the D-man, going to the weak side of the ice and making a long play, you go right next to the guy.
Literally, it's like a three-foot pass.
And now that's one guy sucked in.
Now the second guy is going for the second D-man.
Now the centerman supports.
The second D-man gives it to the centerman.
Now you just beat two guys in a small little 10-foot area.
One of your D-men have to jump by them.
And now you're an odd man rush the other way.
And so in a way, you just kind of suck them in and let their pressure come at you and move around them and make small little plays, support each other up the ice.
And then when you get in their zone, you have to wear them down.
You have to...
I know a lot of teams want to shoot a lot.
You have to get a cycle game going because the second they get the puck, they're gone.
And so that's kind of what we focused on.
I sound like a Band-Aid on this thing because I broke my collarbone in that series.
But we ended up losing seven to them.
I think I went out in game four and,
But that's the only way I can figure out to beat them because if they're on their game and they're all pressuring in unison, it feels like they have three too many men on the ice.
But if you can suck them in, get them off their game a little bit, get them stopping a little bit off their forecheck instead of just rounding and backchecking, you can use their pressure against them and jump by them and work up the ice as a unit of five.
