I mean, it's funny listening to Liz and Joan there that...

Brenda got to know people through unusual circumstances, through working oftentimes, and would then just look at somebody and go, I want to be your friend.

Very blunt, very forward.

So the world would throw you together and then she would just go, I'm not letting go of this.

And that was my experience with her.

I went to her with this very sketched out idea of a

a fairly slow and ponderous film about an older woman living on the coast.

She saw something in it.

She saw why I would think of her and she saw what she could bring to it.

And she brought a huge amount to it.

And it's quite an intimate thing working with somebody in that way.

You spend a lot of time sitting around talking about what you think is beautiful.

It's a wonderful way to spend time with somebody working in that way.

But she was quite explicit that, you know, we got each other and she wasn't going to, you know, let me disappear once the work was done.

Yeah.

Oh, I really think so.
