You can feel it in your body, but you cannot hear it.
And also you enter to a small room and you start crying for no reason.
The work can only be seen through the behavior of the audience.
The audience needed to do their part.
They needed to go touch the floor, put their body against the floor, to hit the floor, to discover the image.
And I think for me that was very important because I was thinking about only together we can make things happen.
And it was, at the same time, an effort, a collective effort to see the immigrant.
But I think, for me, that project was about the responsibility of people, what is happening.
The piece about crying, supposedly with nothing provoking that but a chemical, was actually my response to, back then, people on Facebook saying, like, like, like, and doing virtual signaling.

I think in a way museums more and more are seeing audience as clients instead of guests to their world.

Normally, the Turbine Hall usually is one big project everybody can focus on.
This is it.
You look at it, you like it, you don't like it, you interact or not.
And in my case, it was, it's not about me, it's about you doing the work.
And I think that was a little adjustment for the audience.
And then once they get it, they start playing with it.
