And that was basically it.
No, there were some journalists and also there were underage kids who were in prison.
In one of the interrogation sessions, they told me I would not be put in prison because I was not going to become the Cuban Ai Weiwei.
So what they did is they put me in home detention where I was for nine months not able to leave my house, not even to buy food.
to go to the doctor, to nothing.
So I was for nine months in my house.
Like literally, I could not even go to somebody else's in the building home.
Because if you're in prison, that is recognized by others like, wow, this is valiant and courageous.
They don't want that.
They want you to look weak and to look not committed.
Very much.
It's very funny.
The other day I was in a conversation in New York and the person who was moderating presented me as somebody who come from the future to our present in the United States.
And what he meant by that is I already been gone through a lot of things that aren't happening now in the United States.
Like you start feeling things I felt 30 years ago in Cuba, like people afraid of talking,
people in their job being very careful about what they say.
The government took money from the National Endowment for Humanities.
This is the government's responsibility for research and ideas.
So I think all of that is pressure.
Yes, it's not as evident as being detained from your home and being put in prison, but this is also censorship and it's also pressure.
