Like life is really short.
It's your mom's first life, too.
She's made mistakes in 10 years from now.
It's probably not worth it to completely not talk to her.
So it's really in how you're approaching it.
Yeah, so I mean, boundaries is another word that I feel is used loosely, but I think that there's two areas.
One, it's okay to uncover where the wounds are in your childhood hardships and how your parents have affected you or hurt you.
I think that that's important.
But the problem is with staying there, you start to build the anger and the resentment, hence why the distance and cutoff feels justified.
But it's really important to also say, okay, let me remove myself and let me rewrite their story a little bit.
And that was one of the best healing things that I did with my relationship with my mom, because it was like, if I rewrite their story, I'm coming from a place and allowing understanding and compassion to come in.
Real life example, without getting too much into it, my mom was the 15th child out of 16 kids.
Her dad died when she was three.
Her mother unintentionally neglected her.
Absolutely.
So to my mom, how she met my emotional needs were incredible compared to hers, even though my emotional needs were not met the way that I expected them to.
And so it brings a certain level of compassion to say, OK, wow, I'm justified in how I feel.
I can understand how to her she thought she was doing a great job.
Well, the problem is, is it's being so normalized.
So it's not a it's not it's it's essentially it's not a healthy way of dealing with the situation.
