Half their employees made more than a quarter of a million dollars.

Now, Insight doesn't have a ton of employees.

Facebook, of course, is mostly programmers, software engineers, that kind of thing, where you don't have a lot of low-wage workers.

The other end of the spectrum, you're seeing companies like McDonald's, Mattel, Gap, Heinz Brands.

These are mostly consumer-facing companies that have a lot of part-time or seasonal workers.

The way the median pay calculation must be done, companies may not exclude part-timers, part-year workers, temporary workers, seasonal workers.

So that really brings their numbers down.

And then you also have companies like Hanes Brands, which has a lot of overseas manufacturing operations.

Those are their employees, but they work in low-wage companies like India or China.

Not all companies that are manufacturers

have this pattern.

Some of them have much higher median pay numbers.

In many cases, that's because they contract out those low-wage jobs.

So they don't show up as employees.

They're someone else's employees, but it still means their products are made in low-wage countries.
