Don, it was your show that I came on in 2018 when I was a CNN contributor, when the Brett Kavanaugh hearings blew up and the Christy Blasey Ford accusations came out and the way Republicans were treating her.
I remember I came on your show and talked about how for women, particularly women who are survivors of sexual assault, what message this sends if you vote for this guy and how our country was treating women
at that moment and this was like put like as me too was kind of a thing right so those those stories were really being told and i and i was really concerned that i was still a republican then that and i almost quit the party over this because here you have a woman like susan collins when you saw those sexual assault victims that were chasing senators into i think it was senator jeff flake into the into the uh elevator remember that it was heartbreaking where she was like you need to hear us what we've gone through is real do not do not
Go after women who waited years because that's another thing.
Well, how come they didn't say something right away?
Why wasn't there a police report?
Listen, people, especially men, you all need to understand the trauma that women go through and what we have to go through when we're not believed and when we're the victims of these things, okay?
My mother was in that position many years ago when she was sexually assaulted by a doctor.
And because she was young and a single mother of color,
child, me, and whose grandfather, my grandfather, and her dad was a captain of the police department in our hometown.
