You have to have some stake to actually become a citizen in the country.

Some level of heritage, at some degree, whether it's parents or grandparents, where in the new world, across all the settler colonies, we have birthright citizenship.

America was a unique case with the slaves.

But the majority of these new world countries, I think Colombia is the only one that doesn't actually have birthright citizenship.
