you know, not ready to to prejudge whether a rate hike will be will be needed in in July, but noting that kind of a broad based inflation pressure, not seeing tension in in the dual labor m um in the dual mandate, a labor market that's somewhere near full employment, um, and so all of that together suggesting that, you know, that that bar to a a hike from the the F O M C to tip the scales towards them feeling inclined to um to do voice-verified
um to to increase interest rates to to get on top of uh the kind of elevated and broad based inflation pressure they're seeing at the moment is pretty low. voice-verified
They don't have much room for more surprises. voice-verified
Um and nothing in the labor market data to suggest kind of any any sharp moves in the labor market in either direction soon soon, as you say, reasonable stability out of jolts. voice-verified
Up a little bit. voice-verified
Um, yeah, I mean that the key thing there is only a little bit and from a downwardly revised previous month. voice-verified
So I think still reasonably soft is the the key message from from there. voice-verified
And it's really in line with other surveys that kind of despite this retreat in energy prices that we've seen, kind of consumer confidence measures have not uh, you know, raced back up to where they were pre conflict and the confidence board uh adding to that as well. voice-verified
The other thing to note there, we were just talking about the labor market before. voice-verified
a lot of the kind of jobs data has been holding up reasonably steady, strong payrolls gains of the past few months and another um punchy gain expected in the data on Thursday. voice-verified
But some of those survey measures and and the consumer confidence board are uh indicators of whether jobs are um easy easy to get uh has kind of sorry whether jobs are hard to get that's in increased as well and so consumers definitely sensing uh you know not not confident in their ability voice-verified
ability to find employment despite those headline late market indicators are looking reasonably healthy. voice-verified
Yeah, so s th those themes still pretty much in intact, slow growth, export demand holding up, but maybe a little bit of signs of improvement on the domestic side in in in those PMIs. voice-verified
It maybe reduces the urgency a little bit for for more material policy action from um from the authorities, but yeah, only marginally higher than expectations on those official PMIs. voice-verified
We get the uh rating dog private sector versions coming out uh as well, the manufacturing PMI. voice-verified
today. voice-verified
Um that one's been above the the official measure and reflecting that kind of more export focused uh survey sample and so we'll see whether that sustains today. voice-verified
Uh yes, Sam, that's out and we've already mentioned the the rest of the the the data flow. voice-verified
So that panel by with Lagarde, Walsh, Bailey and Macklam wrapping up Cintr Cintra, that's definitely the the headlines to to watch out for. voice-verified
