And and one of the basic foundational principles of of public choice theory

Is that if you have really concentrated benefits with a limited number of people but significant benefits, and you have on the other side really diffuse harms across a lot of people, and the harms might be orders of magnitude greater than the benefits, much, much worse harms than benefits, but they're diffuse among a lot of people.

Public choice theory lays out how in almost every circumstance the concentrated benefits will defeat the diffuse harms, even though for society that's a much worse outcome 'cause you're getting a lot more harm than good.
