Batteries are becoming a critical issue because they are, in particular, LittleMyo batteries, are particularly versatile technologies, which in the past 10 years moved from being used only in few applications to now really being the backbone of several critical sectors and strategic applications.

There are, however, challenges behind critical materials, and those are completing projects and mining projects rapidly enough to satisfy the rapidly growing demand, as well as the geographical concentration with those materials that are extracted and refined only in few countries around the world.

There are two things that we should keep in mind.

One is that the overall environmental impact of using, in this case, batteries that use those critical materials remain positive.

For example, on a global average, over its lifetime, battery electric cars emit less than half greenhouse gases emissions compared to an equivalent internal combustion engine car.

And if you look at the case of Europe, these

is even less, so the benefits are even larger, mostly because the emission associated with electricity production in Europe is lower than than the global average.

The second point to have in mind is that most of mining activities for energy purposes today actually come from fossil fuels, not from critical minerals.

Battery circularity is a concept in a sense similar to circularity as a wall, and basically means doing the maximum we can with the resources we have.

So in practice, this translates into using batteries as long as they are useful and they bring value and generate services.

But when we speak about battery circularity, we really have to have in mind the whole ecosystem and the technologies that enable that.

So not only the resources.
