Thanks for having me.
I'm excited to dive in.
I'm not very good at asking for help.
I feel like I think I fell in love with the idea of motherhood sitting next to my nana, Dora Sanders, as she was.
would sit in her big armchair and she would hold my hand and she would tell me stories of raising her eight children.
And it was like this really beautiful, she raised her kids in community.
And so it was, she was living in England and she had a,
her girlfriends who also had, it was the time where everyone was having really big families and they were a Catholic family and my nana and her friends would go to the local park with all these kids and sometimes it'd be 20 kids and three moms and everyone was just helping each other out.
But I always looked at my nana
and thought she did the majority of this on her own while my pop, John, he was at work.
He was a school teacher and a pianist, a piano teacher.
And my Nana did it all on her own.
So in my head, it was sort of imprinted on me.
You can have a large family and you do it on your own.
I remember when I had my first kid and I started working.
Luckily, my husband wasn't working and he was sort of writing things on the side.
And I don't have to share my mother with any other siblings.
So my mom was with me and we just kind of pieced it together with my mom and my husband.
And I felt really uncomfortable at the idea of having a nanny, which was very much the way in America.
