I was envisioning that for my first birth and I'd really prepped myself for that.

And I was like, that's the kind of birth I'm having.

But also, you know, I'm still I'm in my 20s.

I'm still working on myself.

And I hadn't really grasped the concept of breaking up with expectations.

And so I just assumed my birth was going to go one way.

And I ended up having a home birth transfer because I had a posterior baby.

And I had a stop-start labor pattern over three days with no sleep.

And I sort of limped my way through to 10 centimeters dilated, but all of the intensity was in my back.

And I wasn't expecting that.

I'd been reading about feeling it being wrapped at the front of my tummy.

And everything was in my back.

And then there was no patterns to it.

And then I wouldn't have contractions for an hour.

And my midwife was just, she was so sweet.

But by the end, she was like, look, the baby's now been out of the water for almost three days.

And if you have what's called PROM, pre-rupturing of the membranes, which of course you know,

But for people listening, that you sort of are up against the clock at that point because there is an increased risk of infection to the baby, to you.

And she eventually called it and was like, look, you're just not going to be able to manually push this baby under that pelvic bone without any contractions.

You've now not had contractions at 10 centimeters.
