It's a little harder to make trades.
I remember one year in Anaheim when I managed the Angels, we had a good team, and we were looking for a starting pitcher.
And the only way we could get a starting pitcher is we were going to have to trade Darren Erstad, and we were not trading Darren Erstad.
And so the general manager said, I know what we needed, but I'm not trading that guy.
And everybody on the team said, heck no, don't trade him.
Well, that's what it comes down to sometimes.
It's easy to sit there as a coach or a manager and say, we need this.
The general managers know what you need to, but it's their job to try to get them, and it's not as easy as people think it is.
Well, I saw it live with Kansas City Royals.
You know, the year before we played them in the World Series, they got beat.
Yeah.
And the next year we played them, and I will tell you, they went out and they were bound and determined to get back.
And they played great.
So it's always hard because, you know, it's that, hey, look, we're this close.
What do we need to do next?
And, again, ultimately, you know, obviously some teams change.
You know, you lose some players.
If you had a team that gets to the World Series and you get beat, you look up the next spring and you're minus two or three of your guys that you had the year before.
So it's a little bit different game today.
But I've always said, you know, it's so exciting to get there.
