They're a very social bird.

Now, they're all flying around, right?

And more than that even, because I know that they can recognise human faces.

Lots of studies have been done on that.

Is one of the reasons for their success that they're closely associated with humans?

They seem to follow humans.

Whereas they like to nest in trees, we wouldn't consider them a woodland bird.

They are all grouped together here in this rookery.

We're saying something like 16 or 17.

We've looked at one or two rookeries already which have had even more nests than that.

What happens when it comes to territory for the birds?

But the nesting, they're nesting very, very close together, within, certainly within half a metre.

So their territory then, is that half a metre?

or half a metre squared or cubed?

We're listening to them here all of the time, that very distinctive caw, caw, which is again the Irish name.

Would you call this singing or do they sing?

Looking at them as well here too, both sexes are the same.
