I've been in the House of Delegates 32 years.

And before that, I was a Commonwealth attorney in Scott County for six years.

So I've been 38 years of my life, I've been in the public.

And as you said, growing up in rural Southwest Virginia, my brother and I are first of our family to graduate from college and grew up in a blue collar family.

We didn't have all these privileges that a lot of folks had.

You know, it's Southwest Virginia, and growing up from down there, you know, you have certain values.

You know, you're on the tail end of the Appalachian Mountains up there, so you know how the values are in rural America.

They're different.

I mean, it does.

It makes you think.

I've never had those dreams.

I've never had those thoughts.

I mean, why would you ever have thoughts like that unless you really, truly just hated someone?
