Even rest begins to carry the posture of readiness.

Often they are trying to keep something fragile from breaking a job, a child, a relationship, a body, a visa, a tenancy, a future that has already become too narrow to leave unattended.
That is why the arrangement is so difficult to refuse.
It borrows the language of care and places it inside systems that never stop asking for more care.
It borrows the discipline of survival and turns it into permanent readiness.
It borrows love, fear, responsibility, professionalism, prudence, and hope, then threads them through procedures that cannot finally be satisfied.
So so the person continues.
They check again, they prepare again, they promise.
