are not shameless and they go up to someone that they actually admire and they try to play it cool and play this nonchalant game where they're like, hey, maybe I know you from somewhere.

And they end up wasting the person's time for 10 minutes because they want to be perceived as cool versus just being genuine and saying, hey, listen, don't want to bother you too much.
