What would we buy?
And that's kind of the origin of the investment.
the investment portfolio.
But the other component of it was obviously the tokenization piece is like, how do we make something that people really, really want?
And I've been in crypto for like over a decade.
Like I have kind of
gone with the market swings and kind of have learned what really helps and what doesn't help in different things.
And, and also like who's the right person to go and talk to because they have, they have the good gut feel about how the market is feeling and what it wants.
And so we went out and we had so many conversations with people different across the industry, you know, from vault curators, like, you know,
from Stakehouse and Avant Garde to other tokenization players to family offices, hedge funds across the world.
And we asked them kind of what's missing.
And we came up with a very simple mental model in the end, which was if you imagine like a triangle and you have the three corners of the triangle, you have asset quality.
So the kind of how good is the company that you're lending to?
The liquidity of the underlying portfolio.
So how can you sell it and can you sell it without taking massive haircuts?
And then also the yield.
So what's the yield?
And what we found was in short duration fixed income, which is essentially.
government bonds and corporate bonds which are publicly available publicly listed not private credit which are short duration which means they have a lower sensitivity to interest rates often meaning they often have a shorter maturity you had that perfect kind of match in the triangle you meant you went squarely in the middle of that triangle because you had good quality companies who were resilient and who you could comfortably lend to you had a
deeply, deeply liquid market, which means that you could sell the entirety of the portfolio in probably around like two days or under.
