It's kind of maybe slightly crudely, it's a bit of a whack-a-mole process.

You can never think of everything and something pops up and you're like, oh, we've got to deal with that.

Yeah.

Well, I guess lucky for the firm, I've never been used to being the cool kid and I'm still not.

So I was happily happy being uncle back then.

But yeah, I think I think, you know,

I remember part of our investment thesis for public bookchains was very much around the idea of like, what happens if the whole of the repo market comes on chain?

And that was like, that was a core use case is like, can we make a repo better?

And like, what does the value, like, how could we value that?

And then I think we took a step back and said, okay, like, what are the key unlocks for that to happen?

And obviously tokenization was just like the core part of the puzzle.

And so, you know,

When you have these sort of investment theses, you can sometimes go, you know, I'll wait for it to come back.

But I think the view from myself and a number of us at the firm was we've also got a role to play here as well.

We can be an accelerant.

And and more importantly, like we think Bailey Gifford can do this, can do this well.

Like I have this very strong hypothesis that some of the winners in this space are going to be what I call like disruptive incumbents.

which is like incumbents who are going to disrupt themselves from the inside, which, you know, like organizations who now have digital assets teams who are building product to compete with the disruptors themselves.

And so the view was like, yeah, let's take on that role.

Like we can, even if it doesn't work, it would be fantastic learning for our own investment theses, right?
