And so, you know, that was a power play that the administration was making by calling out the Associated Press and forcing them to submit or be made an example of.
And one of the ways that wokeness, you know, it derives its power from that related term that's not perfect, but is what we're left with cancel culture.
So they make an example of canceling the Associated Press.
And then you have this onlooker effect where all the other press realizes that they either toe the line
or they will be cast out as well.
And so you don't have to cancel everybody.
You just have to make examples of people who are punished to make a display of power.
And so the corporations actually in the beginning, they have an ability to resist
these kinds of moves before they take hold, but they often don't.
And that's what's so concerning about what happened at Meta and Google and places like this during the 2010s and at Harvard and the universities when you had to be forced to sign the compelled speech of diversity statements.
If you're being hired to teach physics, you had to sign a statement on how you would work to further diversity ends that maybe you have no familiarity with and aren't really relevant to your
field and now you have to do things that are compelled speech on the other side like tell the authoritarian leader that you agree with his neologism i mean it's absurd and you know like
liberals on the left of center and good faith conservatives on the center right are being squeezed between both of these extremes that kind of feed off of each other, feed off of the energy that each movement makes as the pendulum swings back and forth.
And somehow we've got to get a hold of our senses and return to the process, the values that don't favor one cult-like movement or another, depending on the whims of which way the pendulum is swinging.
Well, yeah, I'd be very careful.
I wouldn't say that Bezos or Zuckerberg or people like this were ever woke on the left before, and I don't think that they're woke right now.
they're simply moving with where the culture has moved.
And the power, exactly.
They're just reading the writing on the wall.
They're not true believers, but the true believers capture institutions.
