The local hockey community, right, who is going to these city council meetings and being like, we're worried that the Canucks are going to reduce through this project the amount of local ice available for hockey-related activities in the city of Vancouver.
And, you know, part of the reason we think this is that the team's never had any interest in supporting local hockey, minor hockey in this city.
They have no relationship with us.
They have no role in growing the game that they play professionally on a local basis.
And then there's the credibility of the organization itself from the standpoint of like, what's the plan?
And here this dovetails with something Elliot Friedman also reported on the 32 Thoughts podcast.
The idea that all of Vancouver's amateur scouts basically are out of contract.
So look, first of all, when we're talking about amateur scouts and we've had this conversation in the past, this organization has a very bad habit of keeping lower level employees on edge.
They've done it repeatedly and
they've done this with managers, too.
They allow people to work out their lame duck seasons way too often, in my mind.
But amateur scouts, first of all, are very different.
Like, when we're talking about Adam Foote's future as a head coach, like, first of all, a guy has sheets in the bank from his playing career.
Secondly, he's got multiple years guaranteed money at a million dollars.
Like, we're talking about people whose financial horizons have no relationship to yours or mine or our listeners.
When we're talking about amateur scouts, we're talking about guys who often work second jobs.
We're talking about guys who make 60, 70K.
