I just I don't have the energy to spare physically.

on trying to inform or educate people, rather, on the history of this country or to create a wrinkle in time of what it was like for Black people post-Reconstruction to present day.

There are so many scholars who've written books.

There are documentaries.

And even doing all of those things, even by osmosis, I don't think understanding our plight as Black people here in this country, I think that can only go but so far.

But even still, having curiosity about your fellow human beings is a wonderful thing.

Maureen just gave a wonderful testimony.

And it's okay that Maureen may not ever know what it's like to be a Black woman in this country, but at least she has curiosity about her fellow countrymen and what she doesn't know, she's trying to learn.

and not depending on black folks to be um her educator but learning on her own and being in solidarity and doing the community work so i would give yourself a break monique if you don't feel moved or led or called to do that work um reserve that energy for yourself i mean i say that in the book we have so much love to give as black women it's uh we have it in abundance it's our

our purpose, our highest honor to love.

But we can't keep pouring that love out where we don't have enough love to fill our own cup.

And in this season of my life, it is important to me to preserve that love, to fill my own cup.

I do want to tell you that I will be in conversation with Michael Harriet tomorrow in Atlanta at the Auburn Avenue Research Library.

I'll be in Dallas on Monday with Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett at West Friendship Baptist Church.

I'll be in Chicago and then I'll be in L.A.
