No worries.

I can fill some air time.

um in this moment even though you guys are you ladies are perfectly capable of standing up for yourself but there's something to be said when someone has your back someone's gonna pull up for you you know yeah and i the same for you don i mean i i appreciate um when we stand up for each other and i you know i think there is no community quite like the black community who's in more solidarity

uh in this country but the the beautiful thing about us as a people um is we center our humanity and because we center our humanity it's not like we just have compassion for each other we have compassion with everybody there's a very common story of um a woman tells a story of her father dropping her off at an airport and it's her first time flying alone and she was a little girl and he said if you get lost if you feel scared find any black woman and they will take care of you

And that's so true.

A little Black baby, we gonna take care of.

A little Latino baby, we gonna find that baby, make sure they're okay.

A little white baby, we gonna take care of.

We have humanity.

And so that is why I think living in service, my goal in life, living in service to the liberation of Black people, elevates and benefits everyone.

And that's what we saw with the Civil Rights Movement.

Post-Reconstruction, when we had to come together and co-create something in this country, the Civil Rights Movement benefit everyone.

We wouldn't have the American Disabilities Act without the sacrifice of Black folks.

We would not have the EEOC without the sacrifice of Black folks.

So we are the parents of the laws that birthed the civil rights movement.

We are watching our offspring die.

And we're seeing that right now after the Calais decision, after our vote.

It's not just about voting rights, though, Don.
