He inspired me a lot.

I don't remember how old he was, but he seemed old to me in my 20s at that time.

He was super playful, super athletic, but also nuanced in his drawing us out and challenging us and that kind of

enticing into the mood and spirit and practice of the art form, the play.

This doesn't really have a thread to our conversation, but I'm having a memory of, we did a couple weeks of training with him, and then there was like a demonstration night at the Naropa University, where these programs were going at.

Naropa is a Buddhist university.

There's lots of meditation, there's lots of poetry, there's lots of very calm, sedate, contemplative practice.

And so the Capoeira night comes, and it's a hoda, it's a big circle, people around it, singing, there's a birimbao, the music

And they do a little bit of Ginga playing around each other.

And then Maestro Corleone takes like a straight razor out of his back pocket.

And opens it up and puts it between his toes.

And the room fell silent.

I mean, this is Boulder in the 80s.

We're peaceful people.

What is this straight razor?

We didn't know we were coming to a knife fight.

We thought we were coming to something contemplative.
