We've had an interesting, robust Republican and Democratic primary races so far to replace retiring two term governor Laura Kelly.

There's been something for everybody.

There's been endorsements, debates, shouting, TV, crazy TV advertising, junk mail, and a little bit of scandal and controversy.

So the Republican frontrunners are Senator Ty Masterson, businessman Philip Sarnecki, Insurance Commissioner Vicky

Schmidt, Secretary of State Scott Schwab.

Important to note that Masterson was endorsed by President Donald Trump.

These four candidates have some real uh financial heft uh to their candidacies.

There's some other candidates, but it's really difficult to see how they're gonna break through such a large crowd here.

On the Democratic side, there are three Johnson County Democrats who are running for the nomination Ethan Corson, Cindy Holsher, and Kurt Schubert.

And uh Ethan Corson has been endorsed by Laura Kelly.

That doesn't guarantee victory in this case.

It's interesting to see that this conglomeration of Johnson County uh politicians.

This twenty twenty six race has been colored by the absence of former Governor Jeff Collier.

He decided not to file.

It's really un unknown what his next move is.

You know, why did he quit?

I always thought he was a really viable candidate.

Yeah, there's d we that's not been disclosed.

It'd be a fascinating uh bit of information if uh somebody wants to share with us what the heck he's gonna do next.

So a lot of the issues that have been talked about in this race, of course, it's uh uh to a lot of political races across the country, the cost of living, economic incentives, abortion rights, tax cuts, especially property taxes and concern about the legislature and the executive branch in Kansas really not addressing the
