I'm Tim Carpenter, a reporter at Kansas Reflector, and I'm with Bob Beatty, a political science professor at Washburn University, who is the creator of an
impressive library of Kansas political commercials.
Bob and I are going to check out the first salvo of ads in the governor's race and then take a sampling of the U.S.
Senate race and a couple items from the Kansas Attorney General contest.
Bob, welcome.
It's great to be here and it's about time we got some ads running.
Right.
See what these people are really all about or at least what they say they're about.
That's right.
So here's the format.
Bob and I will kind of introduce the candidate and and Bob will say something about what to expect when you get to hear all or part of the ad.
And then we can discuss afterwards.
So we're going to do I think it's at least a half a dozen of these governor candidates.
And so we're gonna begin with Senator Ethan Corson, a Johnson County Democrat, and his campaign announcement video.
Bob, any highlights here we should mention?
So

I think what we can listen for here in the background of Corson's announcement video is a wailing child.
And I think that says something about his family values argument.
