Uh from a writing perspective, uh Larry Hama did a small thing here on page two.

Panel three, Scarlet says, And why aren't you speaking?
Which I thought was a really nice touch that during this attack when he's been turned evil, Snake Eyes stops talking.
And then there's this added detail which is up for a little bit of interpretation.
I think just sort of emotional interpretation that
the first two panels on this second page of issue 330.
He does have word balloons, but it's just a series of periods, which uh it's funny, you sort of ask someone who reads comics, what does that actually mean, or what's the actual sound?
And I think everyone knows what it means, but it's a little hard to describe.
It's it's not quite it's not quite an exhale.
It's it's a it's a pregnant pause if someone isn't wearing the mask.
Um but it it does it does slow down the reader and and fill in the space in a particular but slightly hard to define way.
Um but uh you know I'd I'd made that comment in a letters page way back when that uh
the flashbacks to Snake Eyes in Vietnam and after Vietnam
Um during Vietnam in G.I.
Joe Comics by Larry Hama, Snake Eyes could speak, but he doesn't, which I thought was always a choice on Larry Hama's part.
That we're just never going to hear him speak, even back when he could, because that's who the character is now.
And uh and this is sort of a version of that, that he can speak now, but he's not going to because he's this sort of boiled down.
