I don't mean an event like a comics event, a crossover. voice-verified

I mean um something significant, meaty and satisfying for your four or five bucks without it being uh you know a hologram on the front or um like a first appearance of a character or like a double-sized issue. voice-verified

And uh not to take a swipe at some other publishers or some other lines, but I think we're all reading or have read some comics in the last year or ten where, you know, the issue's good or we love the characters, but it does just sort of feel like, you know, twenty or twenty-two pages of sort of more stuff happening and uh that voice-verified

What I'm what I'm really sort of now seeing the Energon universe and sort of the architects of it and the writers and artists of it with Abernathy and other editors is that it's like it's like a prestige streaming or cable TV show where they've got a two or a three or four season plan. voice-verified

And by the end of it, you think, oh, they stuck the landing and sort of all the seasons were good and all the episodes are good. voice-verified

And there's some, you know, famous TV shows like The X Files are lost, where uh there was a great idea at the beginning and a bunch of great episodes. voice-verified

And for my money, uh the endings didn't feel like there had been an idea all along, right? voice-verified

Breaking bad, I think there wasn't an idea all along for the ending, but I think they came up with a really good ending. voice-verified

And I don't know that there's an ending for the Energy universe, but certainly week in, week out, now into our third year of enjoying it, it feels um highly structured, but not in a way that feels like it's making the writers and artists um sort of dislike the process or want to jump ship. voice-verified

It doesn't feel like edit editori if I'm doing finger quotes, editorially driven top down, which I think has can have a negative connotation in comics. voice-verified

You know, it's like sometimes all the Avengers books are great or all the X-Men books are great. voice-verified

And sometimes you think, I don't know what's happening with X-Men right now. voice-verified

I like one or two of them, but the rest of them, I don't know. voice-verified
