Um and Tony um Tony, his first shutout for Tommy John um was in I think nineteen sixty four and the game lasted an hour and thirty four minutes.
Because that's what he did.
He got the ball,
threw it over the plate, it had sinking action to it, guys hit it into the ground, he didn't scare anybody, he didn't blow anyone away.
That and he still won two hundred and eighty eight games.
So he he was a very important figure.
Not to mention, of course, he saved the careers of so many pitchers.
by go undergoing Tommy John surgery and showing everyone this can work.
Yes.
And I I I'm a big contributor guy, Tony, that if you do more than your playing career to add to the game, that should add to your resume.
I mean someone like Kurt Flood, uh what with what Kurt Flood did and was a really good player, maybe he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame also given his contributions to the game.
But I think
I think Tommy John is the perfect example of somebody who had in many cases Hall of Fame numbers, but given everything else he did, uh those contributions should get him in.
That's how I look at this.
I'm in the minority on this, I'm sure.
But he had three twenty win seasons, Tony.
And it wasn't like he just accumulated all of these as a c all these wins as a compiler.
He was much more than that.
