And yet, he's a free agent at the end of the season.

and they're going to lose him to free agency.

So they have to make this incredibly difficult decision.

Do we trade the best pitcher in the American League, completely deflate our fan base, but we would be building for the future, or do we keep him?

and go for it and try to make the playoffs and then potentially be a dangerous team in October.

The problem is, as of yesterday, they were four games out of the wild card.

They had four teams in front of them.

They were seven games under .500.

So that's the issue that they face.

He is the number one guy.

Is he going or isn't he going?

This is where, Tony, this is where GMs earn all their money right now.

Are we in?

Are we out?

Are we going to trade our best guy, or are we going to keep him?

So it all starts with Tarek Scruble.

I think at the moment, and this could change this afternoon, Tony, I think it's likely that they trade him because if they're really, truly honest, maybe they don't see this being a team that's good enough to get to the World Series.

But, Tony, I'm telling you, I've had general managers tell me at the trade deadline, if we win tonight, we are going to be buyers.

If we lose tonight, we are going to be sellers.
