So rather than complain about it or rather than try to create a woe-is-me environment, I think Democrats need to understand this new environment that is going to be happening and be able to play fire with fire.
Well, right now, you see that a lot of Democratic candidates have a fundraising advantage over their Republican competition, their opponents.
A lot of these are challengers facing incumbents now.
If this decision that we're discussing passes, we're likely going to see a lot of cash advantage evaporate because the national committees, particularly the RNC, will be able to come in and be able to inject coordinated spending into those races.
Whether or not that's going to turn the tide is up for question.
I don't believe it will.
But that is going to change the dynamics that we are used to seeing, which is that Democratic candidates having a larger cash on hand advantage.
Um, with the participation of more super PACs and more spending, um, you're going to see a real struggle, I think, in terms of, uh, who's controlling the messaging, who's controlling the narrative, what are the fights going to be about?
Is it going to be about the issues or is it going to be about the presence of outside spenders and the messages they're trying to push?
So, uh,
This is going to be a pretty chaotic cycle.
I think we're seeing that already.
And I think that it's going to get even more chaotic as we see these incoming decisions.
we expect more money to be spent this cycle, this midterm than other midterms.
The amount of outside spending coming in will be unprecedented.
And yet we might, you know, probably see results that are pretty normal for a midterm election with a president's party in power.
I think it just goes to show that you can't spend your way out of people feeling pretty awful.
Really, you know, they're going to, you know,
Everyday voters are going to be pummeled with so many ads, so many direct mail pieces, so many both TV and digital.
And it's really going to be fascinating to see if any of that spending or any amount of those ads is going to be able to change the result in a significant way.
