And that's what the choice between Baal or Yahweh kind of represents, like which God.

But what seems to be kind of more the focus here, potentially, or at least equally, is

not trying to replace Yahweh, but just reducing Yahweh, is this impulse to say, I wanna understand Yahweh.

I wanna do it in a way that feels safe and controllable.

simplifies or domesticates or reduces, and that is also really dangerous.

And so both of those are a form of idolatry, right?
