And then there's all sorts of hazards on the way.
I've got to say, I think this is probably my favourite time of year down in Manton Bay because you've got the water level dropping, grebes establishing their nests.
Yeah, and then you've got the ospreys flying around.
I mean, it's just, I love seeing the juvenile ospreys flying backwards and forwards now.
Incredible to think that in three, four, five weeks' time they'll be setting off on migration.
Yeah, so you can see those juveniles there.
And the adults are sitting on the perch, aren't they, to the left, so much darker.
The osprey is only going to thrive if the water is of good quality, you know, because that means they can catch their food.
But we rely on that as well because our drinking water comes out of here.
We're just linked with nature in every possible way.
And I think we become slightly detached from that and we forget that we are part of nature.
Many of these species have been lost due to the past actions of humans.
And so the great value of reintroductions, I think, is that where we've got the habitat and we know why a species has been lost, this is a way to restore a key part of the aquatic ecosystem.
The osprey is top of that food chain.
And we need ecologically resilient and fully functioning ecosystems to...
to restore nature to how it should be.
