It's not that, you know, you just suddenly lose all your friends.
But over time, you might be labeled as that guy who, you know, is always taking photos and might be considered less likable as a result of that.

So our story is...
perceived presence, right?
If David is taking photos, I think he's not being present and engaged.
And so what we found is that in one study, this was a different context.
This was at a fireworks display.
We found that if a person brought a tripod and basically documented the whole thing without actually being on their phone the whole time because they kind of outsourced it to the tripod, the negative consequences become attenuated.
But you still like them slightly less because I mean they are still bringing this whole setup And and you know just cause kind of causing a scene but
Consistent with our process and the underlying mechanism that we're thinking is at play here, they are considered less unlikable.
Yeah, I think it's just this overgeneralization that we as observers apply to people who are on their phones, right, during, you know, when they're out and about.
So there's this whole thing called thubbing.

So fubbing occurs.

And so prior research has shown that, you know, it's, you know, when we're on our phones at a, you know, at a party.
