Um Mark Hodkinson, who's a Northern English
writer and and uh headed up a uh publishing house for a while, which I really enjoyed.
And uh Lucy Manganoff just started the book is just about being being a reader and and not growing up a a reader.
I'm enjoying how my life would have been better if I actually did grow up a reader.
But I was also very thrilled, if that's not a tautology, to receive in the post a novel by Max Easton.
I got to know about because he made these tapes, they uh audio essays on I guess what could be termed outsider music, music that really isn't to my natural taste, but he'd distribute these tapes and you could get onto his website and buy the tapes and be sent.
And they'd be these
incredible collagic audio documentaries about uh groups and scenes that I'd never known about, and uh wrote him a couple of fan letters, and then his new novel called Now Autonomy, which has just come out, arrived in
my post box and I'm really thrilled.
Again, I've only just started it, but talking about a generation, a an age, a way of seeing things, it's completely not mine.
It's going to make me feel like a rather flatulent old person.
But um old people don't have to be flatulent.
Exactly.
That's a lifestyle choice.
I it was mentioned recently by a rock group I'm in that they've never heard me be flatulent.
And that I'm going to hold that.
Let let's move on.
Max Easton's new novel, Now Autonomy.
great.
The other great one was um I found a collection by Bernard Malamud the other day.
