what it would have felt like sitting talking to you if we'd got to days three or four in Melbourne and in Perth, this would have been the most knockout summer we have ever seen.

So I went down to the sheds to see all the boys at the end of that Perth test, including Trav, and he was like, sorry, boss, we probably cost you some money.
I said, Trav, you cost yourself some money too.
There's the irony.
well he should you know maybe just slow it down a little bit everyone would be winners but no you're right it's it is ironic i mean particularly the melbourne one because i could feel midway through day two we weren't coming back for day three and that's why we moved really quickly and you're probably aware of this but we moved and put our whole australian team up into a fan festival the next day on day three they were out there for several hours signing autographs meeting kids
you know, talking to all those fans who were coming up to me saying, I've got a ticket for day three and I've travelled from X and Y and I can't watch a game.
So I thought it was really important we did that.
So players did a good job of fronting up, particularly when you lose a two-day test, when they should be on the field, they were signing autographs instead.
So I'd prefer to see them on the field though.
A bit of hyperbole in all of that.
I mean, it's interesting.
You know, you talked before about the critique of our system and the critique of our selections and people and all that sort of stuff.
When we talk to the ECB in England, they're fascinated to try to get under the skin of why our system's so good.
You know, when they're out here, they're consistently looking at our domestic systems, our programs, our national programs, our talent identification, all the things I think that makes Australian cricket so good.
All the things we critique ourselves so aggressively is the sort of stuff that our opposition looks almost affectionately at.
