Well, first thing you do is when someone texts you with an invitation to come on a successful podcast, you take the opportunity to say yes so you can talk to people who are listening and loving cricket.
Do this.
So do this.
That's your first opportunity because you shouldn't be scared of sharing the narrative.
You should be sharing it more broadly, which is what I'm at pains to do wherever I go.
And the other thing is...
that generating capital into the big bash is not only about the big bash, it's about the entirety of Australian cricket because you want to keep your sport strong.
And so the only way you can keep your sport strong is keep investing in other areas and diversify your revenues because at the moment,
Lots of Australian sports, all the ones we've talked about in footy and cricket, we're all very reliant on broadcast revenues, and we have to diversify.
We have to think about how we create other revenue streams to take pressure off changing trends and other challenges that will come at us.
So this, for me, just feels like a natural evolution for cricket,
but change comes hard and you've got to talk about it, you've got to debate it, you've got to listen carefully to people, but you can't be afraid of taking the next step.
And I hope in time you get judged on whether these decisions are right or wrong, but at the time you've got to make key decisions.
Leadership's about finding the inputs, getting all the information you can together and making key decisions.
And you won't get them all right, but you want to make sure you get the big ones right.
