So the decisions that leadership makes today, you never really sit and enjoy the shade of that tree.
it comes way after and people will find judgment way after.
I mean, a good example I think is someone like James Sutherland who, and I've had this conversation with James, spent an inordinate amount of time at the start of his tenure driving and supporting investment into women's cricket.
And he was never really there to see the benefits of that return.
That return is now being enjoyed by myself.
And the game now, we're now seeing the benefits of that investment 20 years ago.
And I'm sure he sits with a level of pride that he watches that unfold, particularly when his daughter is right in the middle of it all.
I mean, that's amazing.
But, you know, at the time he takes enormous criticism.
He takes criticism from people in the system about why would you put money into certain areas of the game?
And 20 years later, the sport of cricket, I think, is leading the way in gender equity.
It's leading the way in how we represent our national team for our women.
Now, that doesn't happen overnight.
It happens because decades ago, people in leadership positions took a risk and made a call.
So I'm very conscious of that all the time.
And that's the catalyst for the conversation of change.
because it would be easy to do nothing hold on to the pnl every year have an up and down year and hope like hell you get through like i've got the best job in australian sport in my opinion and so when i'm in it i want to make sure i give it everything i've got and that means making change trying to force innovation in order to make sure that at some point when you ask me this question down the road that we have laid those shoots and we can do better for the sport
