So you're imagining yourself as a lost reindeer?

mean it's all over the news right now because of what donald trump's saying about you know claiming greenland and and all of this and it's brought this whole question of what is the arctic and who owns it currently we've got this big bit of sea ice i.e the arctic that is melting quite fast and that's unclaimed it's open sea it's a big big geopolitical question what goes on there affects everyone in the world how do you feel about being by yourself

Yeah, to be honest, I'm a bit of a hermit.

I think there's loneliness and there's solitude, isn't there?

And solitude is about feeling communion with other things, maybe more than human things.

Well, I guess I need to have a plan of where I'm going to go, but ultimately you don't know what's going to happen.

And that's almost like an open rehearsal because I make devised theatre that is about improvisation to develop a script or a show.

I'm not the kind of guy that...

needs a script right from the start and that, right, these are my lines.

This is what I'm doing.

I can trust in that openness and playfulness to find something.

It's about documenting what happens.

There's no right or wrong way for this to go.

My own body, the conditions, the landscape, recording that in as faithful a way as possible.

But yeah, I'm nervous.

You're nervous?

Yeah, I think just with extreme environments like that, having a protocol in place for, you know, what you need to do to make sure you survive.

Well, if it's a minus 15 day, then, you know, just a couple of layers.

If it swings proper cold, then I'm going to be fully bunkered down in my reindeer outfit and my down jacket and about five layers.
