I looked whether those countries that had high bonuses also had a better performance or not.
And I didn't find that there was a clear correlation between the two.
The country that in 2006 offered the highest bonus was Ukraine.
And then it was kind of offering like 800,000 euros for a win.
which was higher than Spain at that point.
And then countries like South Korea, Switzerland and Serbia were all promised more than Germany.
So it's not that if you promise your players a higher bonus that you will advance to the finals or something like that.
That doesn't seem to happen.
