The person she wants to go to the prom with is Blaine.

The guy who really wants to bring her to the prom is Ducky.

Blaine does ask her to the prom but then in front of his friends he gets embarrassed because she's on the wrong side of the tracks takes back the invitation not something I think you can ever really do and then she goes to it and at it she gets off with him again now this is where it gets controversial because it ends the initial film ends with Ducky the friend being the person who you know they get together and that got such a bad reaction on the test screening that they redid the ending

So they redo the ending where this time she goes with Blaine and Blaine at this stage, it's eight months later, he's been off filming a new film.

So they have to re-film the ending over the course of one day in which he's flown into New York where they do it all in one day in New York.

He's lost loads of weight in the meantime as he's in an American GI movie.

And he shaved his head.

So when you see the final scenes where they get back together, he's skinnier than he was and he's wearing a wig.

And I have to say the making of OMD.

Now, I don't know, I think people love the film and love John Hughes, but people will say time and time again, it's amongst the most brilliant soundtracks in modern music.

And I think listening to it, I'd agree 100%.

I don't have enough good things to say, but what a soundtrack can do to a film.

But the songs they picked, they were just sensational songs.

The OMD one, If You Leave, was re-recorded and that went to number four.

Left of Centre by Suzanne Vega, which I think is a sensationally brilliant song, co-written by Joe Jackson.

But Pretty in Pink from the Psychedelic Forest, for me, it's like their Don't You Forget About Me moment.

It makes you want to see the film.
