Kindergarten? I always knew. In this small town I grew up in, we had a police department. And next to the west car, it's just called Carthage, bigger town, police department. And my dad, you know, I remember my dad coming home wearing the uniform, and I knew he was out there protecting people.

Then when he became a judge, when I was still a child, middle of the night, state troopers knocking at the door, bringing somebody in to get arraigned in the middle of the night. I was surrounded by cops all the time. So I knew I was going to be a police officer.

And I did become a police officer straight out of college before I joined the Border Patrol, but I knew, I had no doubt in my mind, there's one thing I wanted to do, and that's be a law enforcement officer. They did. But I really love... My hometown where I grew up, matter of fact, I recently bought a lake house up there. I'm gonna retire there someday. I was born there, I was raised there, went to college there, was a police officer there. I'm gonna die there someday.
