Lest we forget.
Maybe the coolest thread that was just like farted out in that thing. Like, oh, okay. I would have really liked to seen you do more with this.
Of course, now we have Parallax coming, you know. From the hit movie Green Lantern. There's this cloud enemy that's coming.
Climbing a guy. It's just a cloud. You say Varro? Varro was the one.
That was the first one I said.
What a weird game. What a weird game that sequel was. It was fun. It was great. I enjoyed it, but it's like... It's such a sequel to number one. Yeah. Don't get me wrong. It's more technically impressive and beautiful. But it's such a sequel that it's just such a blur of it all running together. You're like, yeah, Angel of Basset.
game playing what we were doing and look like the fact that I think what they tease for the next one should be crazy yeah and again these games are all fun these games are all enjoyable but I think what we're talking about is what separates a somewhere in the eights from somewhere in the nines yeah where you're like oh yeah like this is I'm rocking for this game I enjoyed the hell out of those games I'll be excited for the third one but yeah
I'm not sitting here being like... When we talk about The Last of Us' story or something. Or God of War.
Oh. No. I would have been excited to see what this looks like. I... From... From the outside, hearing about it, being a PlayStation guy, liking Horizon, I would be interested to see what you do with that to make that unique and cool and whatever. I'd be super interested to see what a, even though it's not strictly them, an MMO from PlayStation looks like. How do you do a PlayStation 2025?
How do you do an MMO in 2025?
Yeah, like, their version of North mythology. See, I think all of these... The things that are similar here, I think these worlds are interesting through the eyes of the protagonist. Through the eyes of Aloy, through the eyes of Kratos slash Atreus or whatever. Like, I don't... Like... Take away Atreus and Kratos. I don't really want to wander around that world and get missions from fucking Thor.
Yeah, exactly. Whatever. And run off and do the other thing and not have powers or get powers or whatever. This is an interesting thread to pull on because I choke up. Joe writes in and says, Horizon has released two games and a Lego spinoff. We get a new Yakuza every year. I love Horizon, but balking at it being too present feels wrong.
My interesting argument, I love to get into it, and I respect you, Joe. My counter argument is, every time there's a new Yakuza game, Roger freaks out. People online freak out. That is a fan base that is saying, give us as much as possible. Give us more, give us more, give us more, give us more. Whereas Horizon feels,
When we're talking about a Lego game, when we're talking about a TV show, when we're talking about all these different things, that feels so manufactured. That feels like PlayStation telling us, oh, we've heard you. You want more. And I'm like, but have we? Have the masses been saying they want more? I want more of the core game. I want to finish the trilogy.
I want to see where we're going with this. But I'm not sitting there going, oh, man, I can't wait for just anything Horizon. Yeah, I agree with that. Okay, fine. Good enough. That was fun. I mean, Street Shadows coming with a very similar one. There have been three Horizon games released so far. There's a perceived notion that it's too much. What about Mario?
I think the problem is we know too much about Inside Baseball about the IP development. I don't want to hear any Mario slander. Again, I respect it, but come on. Come on. Mario? A game that is on the short list for game of the year every time it's out, a game that revolutionizes itself, a game that made video games what they are.
Fair enough. Let's stay in the PlayStation state of mind and move on to story number two. Ben Studio Dev says, quote, we still plan on creating cool shit. End quote. After Sony live service cancellation. This is Wesley Yin Pool at IGN. Super chat question. What do you want to see next from Sony Bend?
The developer of Days Gone has said it still plans to create cool shit after parent company Sony canceled its unannounced live service game. Last week, Sony canceled two unannounced live service games that were in development at Ben's Studio and Bluepoint Games. The Bluepoint game was reportedly a live service God of War game, according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier.
Ben's studio live service game remains unknown. A Sony perks spokesperson confirmed that cancel cancellations to Bloomberg, adding that neither studio will be closed and it will work with each to determine this next projects.
In a tweet, Sony Ben community manager, Kevin McAllister issued a short message to the developer fans, quote, thanks for the love and support everyone, especially to those who have reached out. P.S. We still plan on creating cool shit. End quote. As it stands, Sony Benz last release was 2019's Days Gone on PlayStation 4. It launched on PC in 2021. Bullshit.
