He uses small town, nowheresville America in the format of a network television soap opera to smuggle in as a kind of Trojan horse to smuggle in basically French surrealism.

Eliot's doing almost exactly the same thing.
She's using all these Tipton Granges and Lovick and Freshits and Stonecourts and Trumptons and Camberwick Veens and Vickers, Vickers, Vickers, Vickers, Vickers.
She's using that kind of armature as a Trojan horse to smuggle in continental philosophy.
