But I think whenever you have, you know, beyond clear-cut, obvious corruption, money being used to influence policy in a nefarious fashion, politicians becoming bought mouthpieces, influence being bought and peddled in a really kind of clearly undemocratic and unseemly way.

Of course, everyone's against that.

But when you get down to these kind of more fine-grade distinctions,

What tends to happen is that it tends to empower the law, the state, or some kind of quango at the expense of democracy.
