This was about a month ago, Brad, at Leipzig Airport, eastern Germany, August the fourth.
A major security scare when officials on the airfield discovered a drone packed with explosives, and it was just a few yards away from a Ukrainian cargo aircraft.
Wow.
The airport went into lockdown, all of the runways were closed.
Leipzig airport is
Used by the US military and other NATO militaries to ship equipment, and a lot of that equipment ends up in Ukraine.
Hmm.
Now, the drone was disabled.
There was a bomb disposal unit that came onto the airfield.
There was even a robot used to disable that device.
What the German government has now said quite clearly, it's pointed the finger at
uh of blame very squarely uh at the russian government and the russian security services

They've said that the components on that explosive drone, I mean it looked like an off the shelf drone that we've seen used a lot in the war in Ukraine.
But they said, the Germans, that basically the components on that drone, the type of explosives used, also the modus operanda used in this uh alleged plot to potentially try and blow up that Ukrainian cargo aircraft, all bore the hallmarks of Russian drones and explosives used in previous operations.
And the modus operandi was consistent with previous Russian operations in Europe, these type of sabotage attacks, and also the drones consistent with uh drones used in the war in Ukraine.
Well, it's i it was definitely the first time that a drone packed with explosives was potentially targeting aircraft at an airport in Europe.
