Elon Musk and his Doge team for one of the most expensive typos I've ever heard of.
On Monday, Doge published what they described as a list of canceled government contracts that they said saved the U.S.
government $16 billion.
Half of those savings were attributed to a single canceled contract, which Doge said was an $8 billion line item for the Office of Diversity and Civil Rights at ICE.
You know, those typical woke ICE agents.
Big government run amok, right?
$8 billion worth of DEI.
How could this possibly have happened?
Well, it didn't.
According to a report in the New York Times, that contract was for $8 million, not $8 billion.
Oops.
Doge later updated their numbers, but they never acknowledged their billion-dollar mistake or tried to account for how it might impact their overall savings claims.
And my takeaway from this is you shouldn't believe anything these guys say, nor should we believe that there's some sort of method to the Doge madness.
Because how else do you explain Elon laying off the people in charge of our nuclear weapons stockpile?
We're firing thousands of IRS agents who bring in revenue for the US government by auditing rich people.
Maybe it's because the real plan is to make it look like the Doge cuts will pay for Trump's $4.5 trillion tax cut for the richest people in the country, when in reality, that will be paid for by cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.
That's Trump and Elon's MO.
They get richer, you get screwed.
