You look back at the Howard government, in two thousand and four, One Nation did not win a Senate spot.
In fact, the coalition won four Senate seats.
including a newcomer at the time, Barnaby Joyce.
And the coalition won four, which is unprecedented for a major party to win four out of six Senate spots in a half Senate election.
But such was the success of Howard and Costello on a macro level and the late Ron Boswell on the ground.

A large part of that was that under the Howard government at the time, wage growth was around twenty four point six percent and interest rates generally fell, you know, one or two points or more every year.
