What's being forgotten is is Albanese is in a bit of trouble in my point of view, and I've been saying this for some time, but he's still net minus nineteen.
Dutton was net minus twenty um on the eve of the last election.
Everybody talks about how unpopular he was.
Well Albo is is, you know, neck and neck with him.
Labour have lost positioning on who is best to manage several issues.
They used to be uh have leads on six issues, six of the most salient issues.
They've now down to three and two of those leads are highly contestable, which is cost of living and um and housing.
They've only uh like a point ahead, so it's all margin of error stuff.
There is a lot of um v concern uh if you're a Labour supporter for how Albanese is traveling.
He's also weighed down by, you know, um the price of housing right now.
Um that's got to hit a real sweet spot for Labour, in my opinion, at the next election.
We won't really know um whether that policy has been successful or not until election night, um because there's a long way to travel.
But there's already perceived losers.
And few perceived winners.
And what I do know in politics over a very long time is that those who feel they've lost are far more animated and angry than those who feel they might have benefited by a policy.
So you go back to the Howard Costello government with tax cuts and wage growth and so forth, they voted more because they were worried about Latham wrecking it more than sort of wanting to reward Howard and Costello, you know?
They they don't sort of really sit there and sort of say this is a fantastic government.
I want to give them my vote.
It's always those people who are concerned about what they're going to lose or what they have lost.
So, you know, there there are some challenges for this government.
